Nesta madrugada de quinta-feira aconteceu a 22ª edição do D.I.C.E Awards, o evento que anualmente sediado em Vegas pela Academia de Arte Interativa e Ciência (AIAS) que - é mais ou menos na pegada do Oscar - representa os seus mais de 30,000 membros associados e premia os melhores jogos do ano anterior em 23 categorias distintas. Como já era de se esperar, God of War fez a limpa com a SIE Santa Monica levando 9 prêmios para casa, que incluí a de Jogo do Ano.
Este ano cerca de 700 pessoas ajudaram a organizar o evento, incluindo a equipe de premiação. E todos eles ouviram Cory Barlog dizer a palavra com C quando recebeu o prêmio de Melhor Design de Jogo.
"Há dois caminhos que podemos tomar na indústria [de games]," disse Cory Barlog, diretor de God of War. "O caminho do cinismo e o caminho da grandeza." E adicionou que estava orgulhoso pra c****** de sua equipe. E fora o exclusivo da Sony, vale destaca que o game brasileiro Celeste, foi o único jogo multiplataforma a levar mais de um prêmio para casa, ganhando nas seguintes categorias Jogo de Ação do Ano e Feito Extraordinário para um Jogo Indie.
Outro destaque da premiação foi para a Vice-Presidente e Diretora da 343 Industries, Bonnie Ross, que agora passa a integrar o Academy's Hall of Fame. Recebeu este prêmio por sua visão e expansão da franquia Halo e por ser uma voz fundamental por promover a STEM (acrônimo de Ciências, Tecnologia, Engenharia e Matemática) entre mulheres, grupos minoritários sub-representados e crianças. E ela é a primeira mulher a entra para o Hall da Fama do AIAS, e Bonnie se juntará a nomes como Shigeru Miyamoto, Gabe Newel, Hideo Kojima-san e vários outros.
