It has been clear for some time now that the PS5 will face inventory shortages at launch, with the console being sold at a fast pace in all regions of the world and with many potential users failing to pre-order the launch. This is also true in Japan, where Sony says the console's pre-order inventory has been completely depleted.
Sony goes on to say that because of continuing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, they will not hold any launch events or sell PS5 in stores on launch day, in order to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
In addition, Sony has also said that it will no longer pre-order the console in Japan before its launch, although more consoles, of course, will be available for purchase after its launch.
Japan is one of several regions where the PS5 will be released on November 12, with the rest of the world receiving the console on November 19.
