Distributor Raw Fury and developer Playmestudio announced today that The Signifier, the upcoming tech-noir-style mystery adventure game, will be released on PC via Steam and GOG.com on October 15th.

In the game, players take on the role of an investigator tasked with peering into the memories of a dead person to reconstruct what happened.

Essentially, this allows players to explore events from the past as recalled by the deceased. But as they are memories, they are not perfect and sometimes have some problems. This is presented by the mechanics of the game of switching between objective and subjective states. The objective state is quite sparse and is based on facts, such as the size of a ladder, where a bottle was, and so on. The subjective state talks about the emotional state of the character, and things can get very strange, thanks to the associated memories.

The Signifier, a mystery game and first-person research, is available for wishlist on Steam and is due for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2021.
