In July, Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat revealed that multiplayer on Xbox Live would be free in the near future. This may mean that you will no longer need to pay for Xbox Live Gold to be able to play free-to-play titles or the subscription would be waived even for multiplayer games like Call of Duty. When Microsoft said there would be no changes to Xbox Live Gold, the rumors have cooled off.
It appears, however, that this announcement has simply been postponed. When asked on Twitter about what happened to the Xbox Live rumor becoming free, Grubb said: “The same thing that happened with the Series X price and release date, and the Series S itself and Game Pass news ”. This essentially implies that the news has been postponed and not necessarily denied.

Time will tell if it's true, of course, especially with the recent leaks from the Xbox Series S, the Xbox Series X costing $ 499 and both consoles having a release date for November 10. Rumors indicate an Xbox event later this month, separate from the Xbox showcase at the Tokyo Games Show. Maybe there could be a digital event or Inside Xbox episode to talk about all of that in the next few days. Stay tuned for more details.
