The next expansion of Nioh 2 will be launched next month, Sony confirmed today at Official PlayStation Blog .

The new DLC, called Darkness in the Capital, will be released worldwide on October 15th. It will feature new storylines, as well as new bosses, new Yokai, new Guardian Spirits, a new weapon type and more.

Some details about the history of the new expansion of Nioh 2 were also revealed today.

To unravel the mysteries that surround Sohayamaru's story, our protagonist ventures into the city of Kyoto and discovers a shrine decorated with an old and worn box. After inspection, Sohayamaru shines once more and the protagonist is taken to the middle of the Heian Period, landing in an old version of the capital.

Unlike its name “Heian Palace”, which means peace and tranquility, ancient Kyoto was terrified by countless Yokai during this period. However, there were many heroes who were brave enough to oppose these demons. Among them were the most prominent demon slayer and the strongest sorcerer in history, along with his subordinates and colleagues fighting alongside him.

Our protagonist joins forces with these famous heroes to end the turmoil and destruction caused by the Yokai hordes, while learning more about the connections between an even more distant past and the present period of time from which they came.

Nioh 2 is now available on PlayStation 4 worldwide. The Darkness in the Capital DLC will be released on October 15th.
