XSX will be cheaper than PS5 and will perform better in multiplatform games, says Insider

PS5 and Xbox Series X may be relatively close (they are probably launching in about three months from now), but there is still a little official information that we are missing, especially one of the most important aspects of any new product: the price .

Insider Dusk Golem, known mainly for his rumors CAPCOM (Resident Evil / Street Fighter) and Silent Hill, posted some news on a ResetEra thread entitled 'Realistically, how should Microsoft compete with Sony in the next generation?', Where he said that the PS5 is likely to cost more than the Xbox Series X, as Microsoft has a greater capacity than Sony to absorb production costs while keeping the retail price low. In addition, Dusk Golem also reported information from his sources that Sony's next-generation console is struggling more than the Xbox Series X with cross-platform gaming performance.

[...] from some murmurs that I have heard, I will just say that I suspect this topic will age "interestingly" when some more details on both platforms are revealed.

I mean this in a few more ways, but to give you the broader idea, I'm just going to say that the Xbox Series X is much more powerful than the PS5 if we're just talking about raw power, cross-platform games will run better there, it's something that people are going to have to prepare for. Add to that Microsoft is ready for Sony lowball when it comes to price. They can more easily make a sacrifice and get Game Pass profits back than console sales than Sony comparatively.

PS5 is easier to develop for the general and Sony has very talented studios behind it that will make the most of the PS5, which I have no doubt about either, but this topic is about how Microsoft will compete, so in that I'm focused on. But when it comes to multiplatform games, they will end up performing much better on the Xbox Series X. Xbox Series X will have the technological advantage over the PS5, and will be more than marginal.

The basic essence of what I heard is that the PS5 is really good to work for games exclusive to it, but in practice the specifications are kind of weird for multiplatform games. The use of the PS5's SSD systems helps a little, but not to the maximum, and I heard some friends should talk a little about the struggle that the PS5 has for 1080p games running at 60fps yet, while the Xbox Series X doesn't have the same problem and can push above that even in most cases. Sure, this is a small selection of people I talked to, there's more to it than that, but I hear something that will make this generation a little bit interesting is the focus of the PS5 & Xbox Series X in other areas will make multiplatform games "interesting "in this generation, to the point that we actually see less of them and a lot more games coming to one platform or another (more PC), as it is actually kind of difficult to make an ideal game for both platforms due to the point of being a little focused different.

In a follow-up post, he clarified that he was referring mainly to Resident Evil Village, which is apparently struggling to get 1080p at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5. That said, Dusk Golem also heard from other developer friends that this is likely to happen in other multiplatform games, too.

Okay, so I think I'll confess here ... I'm talking about Resident Evil Village. The game's terrible performance on the PS5 reveal event with the terrible frame rate present in the trailer was kind of the current status of the game on the PS5 from a few months ago. The point is that, apparently the game works perfectly on the Xbox Series X, they have had some problems getting the frame rate stable on the PS5 (which as Sony had a rule to record the gameplay of the PS5 event on the PS5, lead to the frame strange showing in that trailer). But it is running on RE Engine, and they will be making more optimizations to take advantage of the game there.

The price is from different sources, I said that before, but it will clarify here.

From what I heard anecdotally from a few other development friends of mine, the Xbox Series X has the advantage when it comes to multiplatform games on most fronts. But this is still anecdotal of the few people I talked to about this topic, but I think some people should prepare for it, as it was consistent at least with everyone I talked to making games for PS5 & Xbox Series X.

Of course, all of this information should be considered as a rumor with all that it implies. However, Dusk Golem proved to be a reliable leaker and, after all, these don't sound like strange claims, given what we know about Microsoft's finances (on the subject of pricing) and the higher TFLOPs of the Xbox Series X (on the subject of performance).
