According to a Reddit leaker, Sony Interactive Entertainment is preparing for the return of SOCOM on PlayStation 5. After making its debut on PlayStation 2, and passing through PlayStation 3 and PSP, the franchise ended up being forgotten in the company.
It is said that Guerrilla Games is taking care of the development of the new game. An interesting detail is that the studio had already been hiring professionals in the last months for an unknown title, and everyone should have experience with Multiplayer Mode.
At the time, many speculated that it was Killzone, but apparently, this is not the case.
It is also worth mentioning that this same leaker put forward two important announcements from Sony: The new edition of State of Play, including the fact that it does not have “any great news from the PlayStation 5”, and the exclusive agreement with Square Enix for the use of the Spider-Man in 'Marvel's Avengers'.
At the same time, Horizon Forbbiden West remains a major focus for Guerrilla's core team, indicating that a possible new SOCOM - which would be being made by another, smaller team - should take time to reach stores.
