With Hawkeye recently announced as the first post-launch addition to Marvel's Avengers, fans are already wondering who could come next, and Spider-Man is certainly one of the most sought after.
Its addition at some point seems like a fact, although a rumor now indicates that Spider-Man is potentially exclusive to PlayStation platforms in this game. The source is online retailer Base.com, which had the following statement on its product page for Marvel's Avengers:
The declaration has now been removed, but the Wayback Machine provides concrete proof that it was there until recently.
Having Spider-Man as a PlayStation exclusive would make sense, given Sony's control over game and movie rights for the popular scholar, but it would certainly work for Xbox, PC or even Stadia players who would lose one of the most famous Avengers on your list.
Marvel's Avengers will be released on September 4, although a beta will take place on August 7 and 9 for PlayStation 4 pre-order customers, while the following weekend the beta will be open on PS4 and reserved for pre-order on PC and Xbox One. Finally, there will be a weekend open beta on all platforms between August 21st and 23rd.
