IGN executive editor says there is no point in big budget games (AAA) being cross-gen

#Games | Ryan McCaffrey: "It looked good on paper, but not in the real world"

Ryan McCaffrey, IGN's executive editor, made a recent statement on twitter saying that it doesn't make sense for big budget triple-A games to be cross-gen, that is, between generations.

I was wrong to believe the fallacy of "the current generation will not hold on to the next generation". I've talked to a lot of people now. It may make sense for some games, but not AAA games, big-budget production system sales types.

Give up old hardware. I want to see what new things can do.

It looked good on paper, but not in the real world.
