For the first time since its creation in 2014, TGA will not be in person, leaving the Microsoft Theater, the home of the event, as a solitary stage.
A few hours after the announcement of the possible return of the Game Awards in 2020, the already famous event organizer, Geoff Keiglhey, confirmed that the award ceremony for the most important titles of the year will make his return.
In an interview with IGN microphones, Geoff Keighley confirmed that, like Gamescom 2020, the event will be held in Digital Format.
Here are the words of the journalist:
"Contrary to what we saw with the Oscars, we are not going to mess with the Game Awards and we will be releasing more details about the event in the coming weeks. It will probably be our biggest show ever."
"Obviously there won't be 10,000 people in the same room as Microsoft Theater. You will see the event as we plan to host Gamescom."
"It won't just be me announcing the winners and the show will be live with some recorded segments. At the moment, we are working on some ways to present live without the possibility for people to buy a ticket to watch the show."
In short, all public fears were swept away by Keighley, who is likely to be willing to continue the tradition of The Game Awards thanks to the possible thematic announcements of the next generation that may arrive during the show.
Speaking of digital events, we remind you that Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live will take place next Thursday, August 27, 2020, starting at 3 pm, and you will be able to follow here at GV, where we will do a small marathon.
