Microsoft revealed a few weeks ago that the reboot of the Fable franchise is officially underway at Playground Games. Although the project has been rumored for years at this point, this was the publisher's first direct revelation that fans would soon be able to return to the world of Albion. However, if you had any inclination that the next Fable game would be coming soon, you may want to destroy those hopes.
If you take a look at the Playground vacancies page on the studio's official website, you'll see that the developer still seems to be hiring a lot. And not only are there many active positions to be filled in the Playground Fable team, but the roles being hired seem to be quite important.

These positions are just a few of the nearly 40 that are available on the Playground right now.

With that in mind, what does this mean for Fable's development? Well, it looks like the game is still in the beginning of production. The fact that so many important roles like the ones mentioned above are still in contract, shows that Fable probably won't be released for a few more years at this time. Perhaps that shouldn't be a surprise, given that all we've seen of the title so far is a small teaser trailer that doesn't feature any footage from the game, but it's still worth pointing out anyway. Although this is just speculation on my part, 2022 seems to be the first window in which Fable is likely to be launched.
For now, all we really know about Fable is that it is set to launch on the Xbox Series X and PC. As soon as Microsoft's next-generation console launches in late November, we may begin to see more of what Playground has up its sleeve for this beloved RPG series.
