With the announcement of Black Ops Cold War, the launch of a new live event and the start of Summer of Games, it may be easy for Activision to skip an update to Call of Duty Modern Warfare this week.

But with some things coming to an end this week, it looks as good a time as any to release the latest Modern Warfare and Warzone patch.

The news about what is being planned for this week should arrive today, August 31, followed by the new Call of Duty update that will air on Tuesday or Wednesday, September 1st.

Update notes can be on the air at any time, but an overnight release Globally may be likely, depending on how big an update is being planned.

We know that the Open Access Gunfight Tournament is coming to an end in Warzone on September 2, leaving Activision a window to launch a new playlist update.

But with so much going on in the game, it will be interesting to see what exactly is being planned for this week. Activision has already warned that more changes will be made to the Warzone roadmap, although it is unclear when this could happen.

This included what appears to be a metro station near the Verdansk Stadium, an area that has already undergone major changes.

To be clear, this is not something that is expected to appear this week and is more likely to be planned for season 6.

Other features that may be released in the game in the coming weeks include support for Creator Code for Warzone and Modern Warfare.

For now, this remains a rumor, but dataminers have found plenty of evidence to suggest that this new feature could be launched before the end of 2020.

There is also a lot going on this week regarding the next Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War game, which may mean less things going on in Modern Warfare.

More revelations related to Black Ops are expected to be released this week, although they are unlikely to correspond to what is being planned for 9 September.

This month, we'll see the official multiplayer reveal for Black Ops Cold War, which should include a lot of information for Warzone players.

Both games will now share the Battle-Pass after Black's release on November 13, and this will provide plenty of Cross-Play support across all titles.

With that, it was confirmed that as of November 13, 2020, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone games will no longer share their Battle-Passes.

"Available now, the blockbuster Battle-Royale experience now in Free-to-Play, Warzone will share all of its content with Black Ops Cold War, ending its sharing with Modern Warfare", confirms a message from Activision.

"Black Ops Cold War includes progression features shared with Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both titles."

"In addition, Warzone players will still have access to previous Modern Warfare content they previously won, such as Operators and weapon designs. More information about Black Ops Cold War and Warzone will be announced at a later date."

"The Battle-Pass system for unlocking post-launch content with unified progression in Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone will unlock items such as basic weapons, customization items and more simply by playing."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone are now available for Xbox One, PC (via Battle Net) and PlayStation 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War will be released on November 13, 2020 for Xbox One, PC (via Battle Net) and PS4. It will arrive later for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
