Research commissioned by Brasil Game Show (BGS) with the Datafolha Institute gave details of the scenario of the gamer audience in Brazil, which already exceeds the mark of 67 million consumers of electronic games, according to the data.
To CNN, the founder of Brasil Game Show (BGS), Marcelo Tavares, commented on the conclusions of the survey and assessed that it is "an impressive number and greater than the population of many countries".
Tavares pointed out that the female audience in the world of video games is growing in Brazil. According to the survey, they represent 47% of the gamer audience. In addition, the average age of game fans in the country is 30 years.
The founder of the largest game fair in Latin America also stated that, in times of pandemic and social isolation, video games:
"And still experience, in a virtual way, what we cannot do at the moment in the real world," he added.
For him, the pandemic reflected in the habits registered in the survey, since it changed the behavior of part of the players.
"The video game today serves as a socialization tool," he concluded.
Due to the pandemic, Brasil Game Show canceled its 2020 edition due to the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The 13th edition, which should take place between October 8 and 12 at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, was transferred to the same date in 2021.
